Human handoff
Handoff to a human, without the visitor repeating themselves
Some questions need a person: a refund, a bug, a quote. The assistant recognises those, collects the visitor's email, and drops the whole transcript into your inbox. You reply from the dashboard; the visitor sees it in the widget, or by email if they have left.
How it works
Handoff triggers
Low confidence, a visitor asking for a person, or a lead-form submission. Each one emails your team once, with the question and the page the visitor was on.
The AI stays quiet
As soon as a teammate replies, the assistant stops answering in that thread until you reopen it. No awkward double replies.
Visitor left? Email them
If the visitor has closed the tab, your reply goes out by email and they can continue by replying to it.
Assign and track
Threads can be assigned to a teammate, tagged, resolved and turned into tickets. On Scale, a first-response target shows how long each thread has waited.
Visitor writes back
When a visitor replies in a thread a human owns, the assignee gets one email, not one per message.
Never goes dark
If the AI allowance is used up, the widget keeps collecting messages for the inbox instead of showing an error.
Frequently asked questions
- Can visitors ask for a human directly?
- Yes. Phrases like "talk to a person" or "speak to someone" trigger a handoff immediately.
- Do I need to be online?
- No. Handoffs email your team and wait in the inbox. The visitor is told you will reply by email.
- How do teammates get access?
- Invite them by email on any paid plan; they log in with a one-time code. Unlimited teammates, no per-seat fee.
